Short answer

Dengue often improves over several days, but tiredness can last longer, so worsening symptoms or warning signs need medical review.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

The course of dengue

Dengue commonly starts with fever and may bring headache, chills, muscle aches, joint pain, nausea, or marked fatigue. Fever may ease before the person feels fully recovered. Some people notice a period when symptoms change, which is why ongoing observation matters even when the temperature falls. These symptoms can occur with dengue, but they can also have other causes. Recovery is influenced by hydration, age, pregnancy, other illnesses, and whether complications develop. Low energy may remain after the acute illness has settled.

Supporting recovery

Rest, drink regularly, and return to normal activity gradually as strength returns. Keep notes on temperature, vomiting, pain, fluid intake, urination, bruising, and bleeding. Arrange a GP consultation if symptoms are not improving, if fever returns, or if you are unsure whether recovery is on track. Use medicines only as advised, and check before taking anti-inflammatory painkillers, aspirin, supplements, or herbal remedies.

When the course is concerning

Seek urgent care for severe belly pain, repeated vomiting, bleeding, black stools, blood in vomit, fainting, confusion, trouble breathing, cold or clammy skin, or very little urine. Prompt review is also appropriate when weakness is worsening rather than easing, or when you cannot maintain fluids. People who are pregnant, very young, older, or living with a chronic illness should seek advice early.

Questions during recovery

Ask how long to rest, when to resume work or exercise, whether follow-up blood tests are needed, which medicines to avoid, and what change in symptoms should trigger urgent care.

Questions people ask

Can I still feel tired after dengue fever improves?

Yes. Fatigue can continue after the acute symptoms settle. Gradual activity and adequate fluids may help, but worsening weakness needs review.

Should I seek care if fever returns?

Yes. A returning or worsening fever should be discussed with a clinician, especially if vomiting, bleeding, pain, or reduced urination is present.
