What should you know about dehydration lines on forehead?

Skin contains water and natural oils that support a smooth surface. Low fluid intake may leave it feeling tight or rough, so fine forehead lines can appear more defined temporarily. Sun exposure, facial movement, age, dry air, hot water, and skincare products can have a similar effect. More useful dehydration clues include thirst, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, unusual tiredness, darker urine, and urinating less often. A forehead line does not show how much fluid the whole body contains.

Drink regularly according to your usual health plan and apply a fragrance-free moisturiser to slightly damp skin. Use gentle cleansing, avoid very hot showers, and protect your face from strong sun. If vomiting or diarrhoea is causing fluid loss, take small sips and ask a pharmacist or clinician about oral rehydration. Do not force extra fluids if you have been given a fluid restriction; confirm the right amount with your care team.

Seek urgent help for confusion, fainting, severe weakness, inability to keep fluids down, or very little urine. Arrange review if dryness is painful, cracked, infected-looking, associated with a rash, or unchanged despite sensible skin care. A clinician can assess the wider symptoms rather than using forehead lines as a hydration test.
