Cloudy urine from a UTI: what to know

A urinary tract infection affects part of the urinary system and may cause cloudy urine when inflammation, mucus, or cells mix with urine. Most people with a lower urinary infection notice symptoms such as burning, a strong urge to urinate, frequent small amounts, or discomfort low in the abdomen. Some people have less typical symptoms, so appearance is only one clue. A strong smell can occur but is not enough to diagnose infection.
