Bumps on the buttocks that are not pimples

Small, rough, evenly spaced bumps may be related to blocked follicles rather than acne. Red bumps around hairs, especially after sweating, shaving, or tight clothing, can fit [Folliculitis](/conditions/folliculitis/). Wash after sweating, change out of damp clothing, and choose breathable underwear and loose trousers. Use a gentle cleanser and avoid scrubbing, picking, or squeezing. If shaving or waxing seems to trigger the bumps, pause until the skin settles. A pharmacist or clinician can help choose a suitable topical treatment; avoid borrowing acne or steroid medicines. Ask whether the lesions are folliculitis, acne, ingrown hairs, or irritation; which products may worsen them; and whether your hair-removal, exercise, or clothing habits need changing.
