Brown spots in the groin area

A smooth patch may be pigment left after chafing, shaving, or a healed bump. Moisture and rubbing can keep the skin inflamed. Folliculitis may cause hair-centred bumps, while Razor Bumps can follow close shaving. Scale, strong itch, burning, or a moist border suggests that the skin may still have an active rash. Colour alone does not identify the cause.

Clean the area with a mild product, dry carefully, and choose loose breathable clothing. Reduce rubbing and pause hair removal over irritated skin. Avoid scrubbing, lemon juice, bleaching products, and steroid creams unless prescribed. Once the cause is clear, a clinician can discuss options for lingering pigment and advise whether a treatment such as LED Light Therapy has a role.

Seek prompt assessment for severe pain, pus, open sores, fever, or rapidly spreading redness. Make an appointment if the mark persists, thickens, develops scale, or repeatedly returns. Any lesion that bleeds, crusts, or changes in shape or colour should be examined instead of self-treated.
