Ano ang sepsis sa Tagalog?

In Tagalog, it may be explained as a dangerous, whole-body reaction to infection. The term blood poisoning is sometimes used, but sepsis can develop even when an infection did not begin in the bloodstream.

An infection can trigger widespread inflammation, changes in circulation and abnormal clotting. These changes may reduce oxygen delivery to organs such as the brain, lungs and kidneys. Pneumonia, a urinary tract infection or a skin infection such as cellulitis can lead to sepsis, although many other infections can also be responsible.

People with sepsis may have fever or chills, but temperature can also be low. Other presentations include very fast breathing, a racing heartbeat, confusion, severe weakness, mottled or unusually pale skin, reduced urination, or a sense that something is seriously wrong.

Call emergency services or go to an emergency department immediately if sepsis is suspected. Say that you are concerned about sepsis and describe the infection, recent procedure or wound that may be involved. Do not wait for every possible sign to appear, and do not drive yourself if you are faint, confused or severely unwell.

While help is coming, keep the person safe and comfortable, follow the emergency call handler's instructions, and gather their medicines, allergies and medical history. Do not give food or drink to someone who is drowsy or unable to swallow safely.

Emergency help is needed for new confusion, difficulty waking, severe breathing trouble, blue or grey lips, cold or blotchy skin, collapse, a seizure, very little urine, or rapid deterioration during an infection. Babies and children also need emergency assessment for poor responsiveness, weak feeding, breathing difficulty or skin that looks blue, grey, pale or blotchy.

Tell the medical team when the person was last behaving normally, where an infection might have started, whether urine output has changed, and which antibiotics or other medicines were recently taken. Ask what organ support is needed and how the infection will be identified and treated.
