Adrenaline is also called epinephrine. It helps open the airways and support blood pressure, but using it does not replace calling UAE emergency services or receiving medical observation.

Anaphylaxis can rapidly narrow the airway, tighten the breathing tubes, and disrupt circulation. Intramuscular adrenaline acts on these dangerous processes and is the priority medicine. Auto-injectors contain a premeasured dose selected for the person. Different brands can operate differently, so hands-on practice with a trainer device and familiarity with the printed instructions help prevent hesitation in an emergency.

Recognise the person’s action-plan signs, remove the device safely, press it against the outer mid-thigh as its instructions show, and call emergency services. Injection can generally be given through clothing, while bulky objects in pockets should be avoided. Note when it was administered and retain the used device for responders.

Lay the person flat with legs elevated if tolerated. Permit supported sitting with legs extended when breathing is difficult, and place an unconscious breathing person on their side. Never allow the person to stand or walk. Use another prescribed device only as directed by the emergency plan or emergency clinician if symptoms persist.

Act immediately for difficult or noisy breathing, wheezing, throat tightness, tongue swelling, trouble speaking, sudden faintness, confusion, or collapse after a likely allergen. Do not delay adrenaline while searching for antihistamines or waiting for a rash. Hospital review is required even after a clear response to the injection.

Ask which device and dose are appropriate, how many devices to keep available, where they should be stored, and how to monitor replacement dates. Request an updated written action plan and training for relatives, school staff, or colleagues. Discuss specialist assessment to identify the trigger and guide avoidance.
