A laparoscopic surgery system uses a camera and slender instruments through small abdominal openings to view or treat internal organs.

A laparoscopic surgery system combines a small camera, a light source, a monitor, and long slender instruments. The camera enters through a small opening in the abdomen and displays an enlarged view of organs such as the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and nearby pelvic tissues.

The system does not perform surgery independently. A surgeon controls the instruments while viewing the operative field on the screen. Carbon dioxide may be used to create working space inside the abdomen during laparoscopy.

A laparoscopic surgery system can support diagnostic laparoscopy, where the surgeon inspects the pelvis, or an operation that treats a known problem. Procedures using it include hysterectomy, laparoscopic excision of endometriosis, laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy, oophorectomy, and salpingectomy.

The surgeon makes access openings, views the target tissue, and passes instruments through separate ports. The number and position of openings vary with the operation. Tissue may be removed through an access site or sent for laboratory examination.

The camera provides a view of accessible areas but cannot see every detail without moving tissue or changing position. Dense scar tissue, bleeding, unexpected anatomy, or extensive disease can make keyhole surgery difficult. A surgeon may recommend a different approach or change the plan if that is safer.

The system is not a substitute for diagnosis from symptoms, examination, imaging, or tissue analysis. It also does not predict recovery time by itself; that depends on the operation and your health.

Shoulder-tip discomfort can occur after abdominal gas, while wound tenderness is expected as the openings heal; your discharge plan should explain what is normal for your operation.

Share information about medicines, allergies, previous operations, pregnancy possibility, and problems with anaesthesia. Contact your care team for increasing abdominal pain, fever, repeated vomiting, wound redness or discharge, breathing difficulty, or heavy bleeding after the procedure.
