Yeast infection in the buttocks crack: treatment

The cleft between the buttocks stays warm and can hold sweat, which allows yeast to overgrow on irritated skin. Itching, burning, redness, soreness, peeling, or small nearby spots may occur. Moisture, tight clothing, prolonged sitting, and friction can keep the skin inflamed. A fissure, haemorrhoid, eczema, psoriasis, bacterial infection, or pinworm can cause similar symptoms, so diagnosis matters.

Rinse gently after sweating or bowel movements and pat completely dry. Choose loose underwear, change it when damp, and avoid scented wipes, perfumes, and vigorous scratching. A pharmacist or clinician can advise an antifungal product and how long to use it; do not put medicine inside the anus unless specifically instructed. Keep towels personal and wash clothing regularly while the rash is active.

Seek review if pain is strong, the skin is open, there is bleeding, pus, a bad smell, spreading redness, or the rash keeps returning. Fever or feeling unwell needs prompt care. Earlier assessment is sensible with diabetes, immune problems, pregnancy, or recent antibiotics. A clinician may need to examine the cleft and test a sample when treatment does not help.
