What should you know about xtool CO2 laser?

Short answer

An xtool CO2 laser uses carbon dioxide laser energy to remove or heat selected skin layers, which can improve texture but requires careful assessment, aftercare, and recovery planning.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What CO2 laser resurfacing involves

CO2 laser energy is absorbed by water in skin cells. Depending on the treatment design, it can vaporise a controlled surface layer or create microscopic columns of heat while leaving nearby skin intact. This may be used for selected texture concerns, lines, uneven tone, or acne-scar changes. Deeper treatment generally brings more visible inflammation and a longer recovery than a lighter fractional approach, so the device name alone does not describe the treatment plan.

Redness, swelling, peeling, sensitivity, and temporary changes in pigmentation may occur. Skin healing is influenced by treatment depth, body site, skin tone, sun exposure, and medical history.

Before and after treatment

Have the area examined and disclose recent tanning, cold sores, active acne, eczema, infections, medicines, and a tendency to form raised scars. Follow instructions about pausing irritating products and arrange time for wound care and sun avoidance. After treatment, use only the cleanser, ointment, moisturiser, and sunscreen recommended by the clinician. Do not peel flakes, scrub the surface, swim, or apply unapproved products while the skin is healing. Keep follow-up appointments so healing can be checked.

Warning signs during recovery

Contact the treating clinic if pain, redness, swelling, discharge, crusting, or fever is increasing rather than settling. Prompt assessment is needed for spreading warmth, pus, severe tenderness, or eye symptoms after facial treatment. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty or rapidly developing facial swelling. A clinician can distinguish expected healing from infection, a burn, or a herpes flare.

Questions for your doctor

Ask whether the plan is ablative or fractional, how deep the treatment will be, what recovery will look like for your skin tone, and how cold-sore prevention is handled. Ask whether a lighter option or another resurfacing approach fits your concern and schedule.

Questions people ask

Is CO2 laser suitable for acne scars?

It may be considered for selected acne-scar patterns, but the treatment plan depends on scar type, skin tone, active acne, and healing history.

Can I use my usual skincare after treatment?

Not immediately. Resume products only when the treating clinician says the skin barrier has healed enough for them.
