Wrist pain after De Quervain's release

The operation opens the tight first extensor compartment so the thumb tendons can glide more freely. Soreness near the incision, swelling with use, and tenderness around a healing scar may occur while tissues settle. Pain that is steadily worsening, accompanied by spreading redness, drainage, fever, new numbness, or marked weakness is different and should be assessed.
