Why is a HIFU device used in HIFU skin lifting?

HIFU means high-intensity focused ultrasound. The handpiece sends sound energy through the skin and concentrates it below the surface, while the outer layer is not treated in the same way as the targeted points. The clinician selects cartridges or depths according to the area and treatment aim.

The controlled heat may encourage tightening and gradual collagen-related change. HIFU is commonly discussed for mild to moderate laxity in areas such as the face, jawline, neck, or brow, but suitability depends on skin, tissue, anatomy, and expectations.

Tell the clinician about pregnancy, active skin disease, infection, recent procedures, implanted devices, altered sensation, and medicines that affect healing. Ask whether the proposed depth and area match your concern.

Temporary tenderness, warmth, redness, swelling, tingling, or sensitivity can occur. Use gentle skincare and sun protection, avoid rubbing the treated area, and follow specific instructions about makeup, exercise, and other procedures.

Contact the treating clinician if pain is worsening, swelling is substantial, blisters or burns appear, or numbness or weakness persists. Seek urgent help for facial swelling with breathing difficulty, faintness, or a rapidly worsening reaction.

Ask which tissue depth will be targeted, what degree of laxity can reasonably respond, and when gradual changes should be assessed. Discuss expected sensations, nerve-related symptoms to watch for, and the plan for follow-up.
