Why is fractional laser used in acne scar laser treatment?

Instead of treating the entire surface as one continuous field, fractional delivery places energy in separated microscopic treatment columns. The controlled injury can encourage new collagen formation and gradual remodelling in selected scar tissue. Untreated skin between the columns helps preserve areas that can take part in recovery. The clinician adjusts the energy, density, and depth to the scar type, skin tone, body area, and risk of pigment change.

Acne scars are not all alike. Depressed scars, raised scars, red marks, and brown marks may need different approaches, and active acne or inflammation may need attention before resurfacing. Fractional laser can soften texture, but it cannot promise that every scar will disappear.

Have the scars and any active acne assessed before treatment. Tell the clinician about recent tanning, cold sores, medicines, previous scarring, and products that irritate your skin. Seek urgent help for facial swelling with breathing difficulty or a widespread allergic reaction.
