Why does motion sickness cause nausea?

Your inner ear helps sense balance and acceleration, while your eyes report what you can see. In a car, boat, or simulator, these messages can disagree. The brain responds through pathways linked to the stomach and vomiting reflex, producing queasiness, sweating, pallor, dizziness, or a cold feeling.
