Why does appendix cancer cause persistent abdominal pain?

Short answer
Persistent Abdominal Pain is a common presentation of Appendix Cancer. Pain may result from growth near the appendix, irritation of the abdominal lining, or pressure from fluid or affected tissue.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How appendix-related pain develops
The appendix is attached to the first part of the large bowel. A tumour in or around it may narrow the passage, disturb bowel movement, or irritate nearby tissue. Some appendix tumours produce mucus, which can collect within the abdomen and create pressure or swelling. Discomfort may be felt low on the right, across the abdomen, or more generally as fullness. Bloating, changes in bowel habits, nausea, reduced appetite, or increasing abdominal size can occur, but symptoms vary and pain has many non-cancer causes.
What to do about ongoing pain
Arrange an assessment if pain continues, returns, or changes your eating and bowel routine. Bring details about its location, pattern, severity, relation to meals, bowel movements, and movement. A clinician may examine the abdomen and decide whether blood tests or imaging are appropriate. Avoid relying on repeated laxatives or pain medicines without advice, especially if the abdomen is swollen or vomiting is present. Follow the treatment plan for any diagnosed bowel or abdominal condition.
When symptoms need urgent review
Seek urgent care for sudden severe pain, a hard or rapidly swollen abdomen, persistent vomiting, inability to pass stool or gas, fainting, fever with worsening pain, or blood in vomit or stool. Contact a clinician promptly for ongoing pain with unexplained weight change, appetite loss, new constipation or diarrhoea, or increasing abdominal fullness.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether the pain pattern suggests bowel narrowing, fluid, or another cause; which tests could clarify it; and how to use pain relief safely. Ask which changes in bowel function, swelling, or vomiting should trigger immediate help.
Questions people ask
Can appendix cancer cause abdominal swelling?
It can. Mucus or fluid and changes in nearby tissues may contribute to fullness or an increase in abdominal size.
Does abdominal pain identify appendix cancer?
No. Many digestive and abdominal conditions cause pain, so diagnosis requires clinical assessment and suitable testing.
