Which specialist treats hodgkin lymphoma?

Hodgkin lymphoma affects the lymphatic system and blood-related tissues, so a haematologist-oncologist interprets blood tests, imaging and biopsy findings and coordinates treatment. A pathology team confirms the lymphoma type. A radiation oncologist may be involved when radiotherapy is suitable. A transplant specialist may discuss an autologous stem cell transplant if lymphoma returns or does not respond as expected.

Symptoms such as swollen lymph nodes, night sweats or persistent itching can occur with many conditions and do not establish Hodgkin lymphoma. The diagnosis requires clinical assessment and tissue testing.

Ask for referral to a haematology-oncology service with experience in lymphoma. Take biopsy and scan reports, blood results, medicine lists and a record of fevers, weight change, itching or night sweats. Ask who will give results and how quickly you should report treatment side effects.
