When to worry about night sweats with myelofibrosis

Short answer
Night sweats are a common presentation of myelofibrosis, but report drenching or worsening episodes, fever, increasing tiredness, breathlessness, bleeding, or abdominal fullness to your care team.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

The link with myelofibrosis
Night Sweats is a common presentation of Myelofibrosis. In this blood disorder, inflammatory signals can affect temperature regulation and contribute to sweating at night. The symptom may occur with fatigue, fever, reduced appetite, weight loss, bone discomfort, easy bruising, or a feeling of fullness under the ribs. Other causes, including infection or medicine effects, remain possible.
Track changes carefully
Note whether episodes soak sleepwear or bedding, how often they occur, and whether they follow a medicine dose. Record temperature, appetite, energy, breathlessness, bruising, and abdominal discomfort. Keep planned blood appointments and do not alter treatment without advice. Contact your haematology team when the pattern is clearly different from your baseline.
When to contact your team
Seek prompt advice for recurrent drenching sweats, fever, worsening weakness, increasing abdominal fullness, unusual bruising, or bleeding. Get urgent help for severe breathlessness, chest pain, fainting, confusion, heavy bleeding, or an inability to drink enough fluid.
Questions to bring
Ask whether the change could reflect myelofibrosis, infection, or treatment; whether your temperature should be checked during an episode; and which bleeding or breathing symptoms require immediate care. Ask how to manage fluid loss and sleep disruption.

Questions people ask
Can night sweats change without the disease changing?
Yes. Infection, medicines, room temperature, and other factors can alter sweating, so a change should be discussed rather than interpreted alone.
Why does abdominal fullness matter?
It can reflect an enlarged spleen or another problem that needs assessment, particularly when it is new or worsening.
