When to worry about a headache with chronic sinusitis

Pressure and inflammation around the nose and sinuses can create pain in the forehead, cheeks, or around the eyes. Keep a brief record of when the pain starts, its location, severity, triggers, and accompanying nasal or visual symptoms. Avoid taking pain medicines more often than the label or clinician advises, and arrange a routine appointment if headaches keep returning or interfere with sleep or daily activities.

Call emergency services for a headache that reaches maximum intensity suddenly, follows a significant injury, or comes with trouble speaking, one-sided weakness, seizure, collapse, severe confusion, or loss of vision. Seek same-day medical assessment for swelling around an eye, double vision, high fever with a stiff neck, repeated vomiting, or rapidly worsening facial pain. Contact a clinician soon when the pattern is persistent, new, or not improving with your usual plan.

Ask whether the pain pattern fits sinus inflammation, whether your current nasal treatment needs adjustment, and which warning signs should change your plan.
