Why sepsis can cause weakness
Sepsis is a serious response to an infection that can affect circulation and the function of organs. A person may feel profoundly weak or unable to do usual activities, with fever or an unusually low temperature, fast breathing, fast heartbeat, confusion, clammy skin, or reduced urine. Older adults and people with weakened immunity may not show typical infection signs.
What to do immediately
If sepsis is a concern, seek emergency medical help and explain that infection with sudden deterioration is possible. Do not wait to see whether rest resolves the weakness.
