When should you worry about fever if you have sinusitis?

Sinusitis causes inflammation in the spaces around the nose and may bring congestion, facial pressure, thick nasal discharge, reduced smell, cough, and fever. Many cases improve with supportive care, while symptoms that persist, worsen after initial improvement, or become focused on one side may need clinical assessment.

The tissues around the eyes and brain sit close to the sinuses. Swelling around an eye, double vision, reduced vision, severe headache, neck stiffness, or confusion are not routine symptoms to monitor alone.
