When to worry about fatigue with fibromyalgia

Short answer
Fatigue is a very common presentation of Fibromyalgia, but a sudden or worsening change deserves medical review.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What fatigue can mean
Fibromyalgia can make energy feel limited even after sleep. Widespread pain, unrefreshing sleep, stress, and difficulty concentrating may all add to the sense of exhaustion. Fatigue can fluctuate, so compare your current pattern with your usual symptoms rather than judging one difficult day.
Fatigue has other possible contributors, including anaemia, thyroid problems, infection, medication effects, low mood, or sleep apnoea. A new pattern should therefore be assessed rather than automatically attributed to fibromyalgia.
What you can do now
Keep a brief record of sleep, pain, activity, medicines, mood, and energy. Use planned rest before you are depleted, break tasks into smaller periods, and increase activity gradually within your limits. Regular meals, fluids, and a consistent sleep routine may also help.
Arrange a routine appointment if fatigue is interfering with work, self-care, driving, or sleep, or if it persists despite your usual fibromyalgia plan. Bring the symptom record and a list of medicines and supplements.
When to seek care
Seek urgent help for fatigue with chest pain, severe breathlessness, fainting, new weakness on one side, confusion, or thoughts of harming yourself. Seek prompt medical advice for fever, unexplained weight change, black stools, new bleeding, or rapidly worsening function.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether another condition or medicine could be adding to your fatigue, whether blood tests or a sleep assessment are appropriate, and how to adjust activity and pain management safely.

Questions people ask
Is fatigue part of fibromyalgia?
Yes. Fatigue is very common in fibromyalgia, although other causes can coexist.
Should you rest all day?
Long periods of inactivity can make conditioning harder; paced activity and planned rest are usually more practical.
