When Is Thread Lift Recommended for Marionette Lines?

Marionette lines run from the corners of the mouth toward the chin. They may reflect skin laxity, changes in cheek or chin support, repeated facial movement, or a combination. A thread lift is more relevant when descent of lower-face tissue is part of the picture.

Threads can support selected tissues, but they do not directly erase a deeply etched line or correct every change in volume. A clinician may discuss other approaches if the fold is mainly a crease, shadow, or structural contour issue.

During consultation, describe whether your concern is the fold at rest, movement around the mouth, downward mouth corners, or overall facial heaviness. The practitioner should examine the whole lower face and explain the likely trade-offs before recommending placement.

Provide a full medical history, including medicines that affect bleeding, previous injectables, dental work, and skin conditions. Ask about eating, speaking, sleeping, exercise, bruising, and the review plan after treatment.
