When is electrosurgery recommended for venous lake?

A venous lake is a soft blue or purple blood-vessel spot, often found on a sun-exposed part of the lip or face. Electrosurgery uses controlled electrical energy to heat and seal the targeted tissue. The aim is to reduce the visible lesion while limiting injury to nearby skin. A clinician first examines its colour, softness, borders, and response to gentle pressure. A spot that is changing, firm, ulcerated, or uncertain may need a different assessment before treatment.

Tell the clinician about medicines that affect bleeding, previous reactions to local anaesthetic, and any history of raised scars.
