If glucose stays high, it can affect pregnancy care and the baby's growth, so regular review helps the team adjust support. This diagnosis is not a sign that you caused the condition.

Follow the monitoring schedule and record readings as your team recommends. Eat regular balanced meals and snacks according to the plan, and choose activity that your pregnancy care team considers suitable. Keep appointments so blood glucose, blood pressure, and the baby's growth can be reviewed. If food and activity changes are not enough, your clinician may discuss medicine. Continue the plan after birth long enough to receive postpartum advice.

Contact your maternity team promptly if readings are repeatedly outside the agreed range, you cannot keep fluids down, or you are unsure how to take prescribed medicine. Seek urgent help for severe headache or vision changes, heavy bleeding, severe abdominal pain, reduced baby movement after following your maternity unit's instructions, or symptoms of very high or low glucose such as confusion or collapse.
