What to Expect from Thread Lift for Nasolabial Folds

Nasolabial folds extend from the sides of the nose towards the corners of the mouth. They can become more visible as cheek tissue descends, facial volume changes, skin loses elasticity, or repeated movement deepens the crease. A thread lift uses absorbable threads beneath the skin to give selected tissue temporary support and stimulate a local healing response.

The procedure may soften the fold by changing nearby support rather than filling the crease itself. The clinician should assess the cheek, nose, mouth, skin thickness, and facial movement so the plan remains balanced. Swelling and traction can make the treated side look different during the early recovery period.

Tell the clinician about facial infections, cold sores, dental treatment, bleeding medicines, allergies, and previous injectables or threads. Follow the clinic's skin-care and medication instructions. After treatment, avoid pressing or massaging the cheeks, wide facial movements, heavy exercise, and sleeping on the treated area for the advised period. Keep the entry points clean and attend the review appointment.

Contact the treating clinic if redness, warmth, pain, or swelling is worsening, if a thread is visible, or if a persistent dent or pulling sensation develops. Seek urgent assessment for fever, pus, severe swelling, facial weakness, or difficulty swallowing or breathing.

Ask whether cheek support or another approach is more relevant than treating the fold directly, where threads will sit, how long to restrict facial movement, and how an uneven result would be managed.
