Follow the hospital’s instructions about eating, drinking, and arrival time. Wear comfortable clothing and arrange support for the journey home if advised. Bring your maternity notes and tell the team about bleeding, fluid loss, contractions, reduced movements, or any pregnancy complication. Afterward, rest as recommended and pay attention to your baby’s usual movements.

Call your maternity unit urgently for vaginal bleeding, leaking fluid, regular painful contractions, severe abdominal pain, faintness, or reduced fetal movement after the procedure. A small amount of discomfort can occur, but symptoms that persist, intensify, or feel unusual need prompt assessment. Follow the emergency instructions given before leaving the unit.
