What is vaginoplasty done with?

During vaginoplasty, a surgeon works on vaginal or surrounding tissues according to the intended goal, which may include repair after injury, reconstruction, or treatment of selected pelvic floor concerns. Tissue may be tightened, repositioned, or reconstructed, and the edges are closed with sutures. The approach, anaesthesia, and recovery depend on the procedure being planned.

Tell the surgical team about previous operations, allergies, medicines, bleeding problems, pregnancy plans, and any urinary, bowel, sexual, or pelvic symptoms. Ask what preparation is needed, whether another treatment is appropriate, how wound care works, and when normal activities can resume. Do not assume that a laser treatment offers the same result as surgery.

After surgery, contact the care team for heavy bleeding, worsening pain, fever, increasing redness or swelling, foul-smelling discharge, difficulty passing urine, or wound separation. Urgent assessment is needed for severe breathing trouble, chest pain, or fainting.
