What is vaginal pessary fitting done with?

A pessary is placed inside the vagina so it can help support tissues affected by pelvic organ prolapse. A ring shape is often considered first, but the clinician may try another size or design if it does not stay in place or feels uncomfortable. The fitting is adjusted around your anatomy, symptoms, activity, and ability to remove or clean the device.

Bring up pressure, rubbing, difficulty passing urine, or trouble removing the pessary. Follow the cleaning and follow-up plan you are given; some people remove and clean the device themselves, while others need clinic visits. Ask whether vaginal moisturiser or local treatment is appropriate if the tissues feel dry, and keep scheduled checks so the clinician can inspect the vaginal walls.

Seek medical advice for bleeding, new pain, foul-smelling discharge, fever, difficulty urinating, or a pessary that cannot be removed or has moved and will not stay in position. These symptoms can indicate irritation, infection, or a fitting problem that needs attention.
