What Is the First Treatment for Skin Tags?

A skin tag, or acrochordon, is a soft growth that often hangs from a narrow base. It commonly appears where skin rubs against skin or clothing, including the neck, underarms, eyelids and groin. Removal is optional when the diagnosis is clear. A clinician may first look closely at the lesion because a changing, bleeding or unusually firm growth may need a different assessment rather than routine removal.
