Dengue fever is a viral illness that can cause fever, headache, body aches, nausea and rash. There is no routine treatment that directly clears the virus, so care focuses on maintaining hydration, easing fever safely and watching for changes. A Blood Test may be used when the clinician needs information about blood cells or to support the diagnosis, depending on timing and the presentation.

Rest and take frequent fluids if you can drink safely. Use fever medicine only as directed by a clinician or the product instructions; ask before taking anti-inflammatory pain medicines because they may be unsuitable when bleeding is a concern. Avoid medicines containing aspirin unless specifically prescribed.
