What is the first treatment for cancer of unknown primary?

Cancer of unknown primary means cancer has been found, but the place where it began has not been identified. The tissue can still reveal its cell type and features. A PET-CT scan may look for a hidden starting point and show where disease is present. Genomic tumour profiling may identify changes that suggest a treatment choice.

If a likely origin or a treatable pattern is found, treatment can be tailored to that information.
