What is an FUE hair transplant done with?

Follicular unit extraction removes naturally grouped hairs one unit at a time from a donor area, often at the back or sides of the scalp. A small punch separates each unit from surrounding skin. The grafts are then sorted and placed into tiny recipient openings following the planned hairline, direction, and density.

Some clinics use a robotic hair transplant system to help identify and harvest suitable grafts. The system does not replace clinical planning: the team still assesses donor supply, hair characteristics, scalp health, and the pattern of thinning.

Ask how the donor area will be prepared, whether shaving is needed, how grafts are stored, and who performs extraction and placement. Share your medicines, scalp conditions, previous procedures, and any tendency to form raised scars.

Afterward, protect the grafts exactly as instructed. Gentle washing, sleeping position, activity limits, and review timing matter during early healing. Avoid scratching or rubbing the recipient area, and contact the clinic before changing the aftercare routine.

Contact the transplant team if pain, swelling, redness, warmth, bleeding, or drainage is increasing, or if the graft area develops an unpleasant odour. Seek urgent help for heavy bleeding, fever with worsening wound changes, facial swelling, or difficulty breathing.

Ask which punch size and extraction method will be used, whether robotic assistance is suitable, how donor follicles will be protected, who designs the hairline, and what recovery changes should prompt an examination.
