What is frozen embryo transfer done with?

The embryo is stored before the transfer and thawed by the fertility laboratory when the timing is right. The uterine lining may be prepared in a natural or monitored cycle, or with prescribed hormones. Micronised progesterone may support the lining after ovulation or during a medicated cycle.

Ultrasound and hormone checks help the team decide when transfer should occur. The embryo is placed through the cervix using a thin catheter; the procedure does not involve removing the embryo after placement.

Follow the medication schedule closely and do not stop progesterone without speaking to the fertility team. Tell them about bleeding, missed doses, new medicines and any illness before transfer. Keep instructions about arrival, bladder preparation and transport available because clinic protocols differ.

Contact the clinic for heavy bleeding, severe or one-sided pelvic pain, fever, fainting, breathing difficulty or a marked allergic reaction. After transfer, follow the clinic’s pregnancy-test date rather than interpreting very early symptoms as proof of an outcome.
