What if vitamin b12 injection does not relieve generalised weakness?

Weakness may reflect low B12, but it can also arise from infection, anaemia, electrolyte problems, diabetes, thyroid disease, medication effects, nerve disorders, muscle conditions, or reduced nutrition. It is useful to distinguish true loss of strength from tiredness: note whether you struggle to rise from a chair, lift an object, climb stairs, or grip normally. Contact the treating clinician if weakness is unchanged, worsening, or limiting walking, washing, eating, or work. Keep a simple record of when weakness appears, which muscles are affected, falls or near-falls, numbness, balance changes, and the injection date. Bring every medicine and supplement to the appointment. The clinician may examine strength and nerves, review blood tests, confirm the B12 treatment plan, and investigate another cause. Avoid driving or climbing if weakness makes these activities unsafe.

Call emergency services for sudden weakness on one side, facial drooping, trouble speaking, new severe dizziness, loss of consciousness, difficulty breathing, or inability to swallow. Seek urgent assessment for rapidly worsening weakness, repeated falls, new severe back pain with bladder or bowel problems, or weakness with chest pain. Do not wait for the next injection when these features occur.
