Freezing pauses the embryo treatment journey while the embryos remain in a fertility laboratory under controlled storage. Your team records which embryos were frozen and explains what happens next. Some people prepare the womb lining in a later cycle before a frozen embryo transfer; timing depends on your menstrual cycle, medication plan, health, and family goals.

The laboratory may also explain whether embryos were assessed before freezing and which results are available. Storage does not itself mean pregnancy has begun. A later appointment helps you understand the plan, consent, and practical arrangements.

Keep the clinic’s instructions about medicines, appointments, and storage consent. Write down the names of embryos or laboratory results discussed, and bring questions about the proposed cycle. Tell the team about new medicines, bleeding changes, illness, or a change in your plans before treatment starts.
