What Does Testicular Pain Feel Like with Chlamydia?

Most people with Chlamydia notice testicular pain as a one-sided ache, heaviness, or tenderness that may build gradually. The discomfort can involve the testicle, epididymis, groin, or lower abdomen, with swelling or sensitivity on that side. Chlamydia can also cause burning when urinating or discharge, but some people have few or no other symptoms.

Testicular Pain is a common presentation of Chlamydia. Infection can travel along the reproductive tract and inflame the epididymis, the small structure behind the testicle. Similar pain can have other causes, including injury, a different infection, a hernia, or twisting of the testicle. The sensation cannot identify the cause, and an examination with sexual-health testing may be needed.

Arrange prompt sexual-health or GP assessment if you have testicular pain after possible sexual exposure, urinary burning, discharge, or genital swelling. Avoid sex until a clinician gives advice and testing or treatment is complete; tell recent partners if you are diagnosed so they can seek care. Do not use leftover antibiotics. A clinician may test urine or a swab and examine the scrotum.

Go to emergency care for sudden or severe testicular pain, a testicle that appears higher or twisted, marked swelling, nausea or vomiting, or pain after an injury. Testicular torsion can threaten blood flow and needs immediate assessment. Do not wait for a routine sexual-health appointment when pain starts suddenly.

Ask which tests you need, whether a partner should be tested, when sexual activity can resume, and how to manage pain safely. Mention the timing of exposure, urinary symptoms, discharge, fever, and whether the pain began suddenly or gradually.
