What do pimples feel like with rosacea?

Pimples is a common presentation of Rosacea. The bumps may feel sore, prickly, hot or itchy, with a background of redness that comes and goes or remains visible. They often affect the central face, including the cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. Unlike a typical deep acne spot, rosacea bumps may occur without blackheads or whiteheads and can sit in skin that reacts strongly to heat, sunlight, spicy food, alcohol or irritating products. Eye dryness, gritty discomfort or swollen eyelids can accompany facial symptoms and deserve attention.

Cleanse with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free product, then moisturise with a formula your skin tolerates. Use gentle application rather than rubbing, and pause scrubs, strong acids and fragranced products during a flare. Keep a brief trigger diary covering heat, sun, food, drinks and skincare; patterns can help a clinician tailor treatment. Avoid self-treating facial bumps with harsh acne products without advice, since irritated rosacea-prone skin may become more uncomfortable.

Arrange a review if facial redness and bumps persist, recur often or affect confidence or comfort. Seek prompt assessment for eye pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision, marked eyelid swelling or a sensation that something is stuck in the eye.
