What do pimples feel like with razor bumps?

Pimples is a common presentation of Razor Bumps. Each bump may feel firm, sore, itchy or warm, especially when a curled hair re-enters the skin. Some spots contain a small amount of pus, while others are simply raised red or darker bumps. They commonly appear in shaved areas such as the beard line, neck, scalp, underarms or bikini region. New lesions may follow shaving, waxing or plucking, and repeated rubbing can make the area more sensitive. Dark marks can remain after the active bump settles.

Pause close shaving over affected skin while it settles, and avoid picking or digging for trapped hairs. Wash gently, use a clean razor when shaving resumes, and leave enough visible hair rather than repeatedly passing over the same area. Shave in the direction of growth with light pressure; a clinician can advise whether a different hair-removal method suits you. Record the timing of flares and the tools or products involved. Persistent bumps may need assessment to separate razor bumps from acne, infection or another follicular condition.

Seek prompt care if redness spreads quickly, pain becomes severe, drainage increases, or fever develops.
