What does hip clicking feel like with a hip labral tear?

A labral tear affects the ring of cartilage around the hip socket. Clicking can feel deep in the groin or front of the hip rather than on the skin. Some people notice discomfort with the click, reduced confidence in the joint, or pain after pivoting. The feeling can be intermittent, and painless sounds can have other explanations, so sensation alone cannot identify the cause.

Pause movements that repeatedly cause catching, especially deep flexion combined with twisting. Keep walking within a comfortable range, avoid forcing a click, and record which position brings it on. A clinician can examine hip motion and strength and decide whether imaging is useful. A physiotherapist may then tailor gradual exercises for hip and trunk control.
