What does breakthrough bleeding feel like with endometrial polyps?

Endometrial polyps are growths from the womb lining that can make bleeding unpredictable. Spotting may be pink, brown, or red, and some people have heavier or longer periods, bleeding after sex, or bleeding after menopause. Mild pelvic cramping can occur, although a polyp may cause no sensation at all. The bleeding pattern cannot confirm a polyp because hormonal changes, medicines, pregnancy, infection, and other womb conditions can look similar.

Book an appointment with a gynaecology or primary-care clinician for unexplained bleeding. Bring a record of period dates, spotting, flow changes, pain, medicines, and contraception. The clinician may discuss a pelvic examination, pregnancy testing, or imaging such as an ultrasound, depending on your symptoms and stage of life. Do not self-treat recurrent bleeding without finding its cause.

Get urgent help for bleeding that is heavy or rapidly worsening, faintness, severe pain, fever, or weakness. Bleeding after menopause should be assessed promptly, even when it is light. Seek immediate advice as well if pregnancy is possible and bleeding comes with pain or dizziness.
