What are the treatment options for recurrent miscarriage?

Repeated pregnancy loss can be linked to chromosome changes, an unusual shape inside the uterus, hormonal or medical factors, or no single identifiable cause. Your clinician may review pregnancy history, examine the uterus, and discuss testing for you and your partner. Genetic Carrier Screening can identify inherited changes that may matter for family planning.

If a cavity problem such as scar tissue or a polyp is found, Operative Hysteroscopy may allow a specialist to look inside the uterus and treat selected findings. This is different from treating every miscarriage with surgery; the finding and your reproductive plans guide the decision.

Ask for a consultation with an obstetrician-gynaecologist or fertility specialist who can coordinate testing and review results together. Depending on the findings, options may include correcting a uterine cavity problem, managing an underlying health issue, or monitoring a future pregnancy closely.

When a specific inherited condition is identified, PGT-M may be discussed with assisted reproduction to test embryos for that condition before transfer. It is a specialised option, not a routine treatment for every case of recurrent miscarriage, and requires genetic counselling about what the test can and cannot show.
