What are the treatment options for mycosis fungoides?

Mycosis fungoides is a type of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma that mainly affects the skin. Early or limited disease may be approached with treatments applied to the skin or directed at the skin with light. The plan can change if patches become thicker, cover more area, or do not respond as expected.

Topical corticosteroids can calm inflammation and reduce redness, scaling, or itch in selected areas. Narrowband UVB uses a specific band of ultraviolet light, while PUVA combines a light-sensitising medicine with UVA exposure. These approaches require a clinician-led schedule and skin monitoring.

A dermatologist will examine the skin and may review biopsy results before recommending a plan. Tell the team about medicines that increase light sensitivity, previous skin cancers, and any difficulty attending repeated treatment visits.
