What are the symptoms of lymphoma?

Swollen nodes may be felt in the neck, armpit, or groin and are often painless. Some people develop Unexplained Fever, drenching Night Sweats, or Unexplained Weight Loss. Itching, reduced energy, breathlessness, abdominal fullness, or frequent infections may occur when lymph tissue or organs are affected. Enlarged nodes are commonly caused by infection or inflammation, so a lump does not by itself show that a person has lymphoma.

Arrange an appointment if a lump persists, grows, feels firm, or is accompanied by ongoing fever, sweats, fatigue, or weight change. The clinician may examine several lymph-node areas and request blood tests or scans; a biopsy is often needed to identify the lymphoma type. Treatment planning may include Immunotherapy and other approaches matched to the diagnosis.

Seek emergency help for severe breathlessness, swelling of the face or neck, difficulty swallowing, fainting, or new confusion. These can signal pressure on a major chest vein, known as Superior Vena Cava Obstruction, or another urgent problem.
