What are the symptoms of endometrial polyps?

Endometrial polyps are areas of tissue that arise from the lining of the womb. They may make bleeding less predictable, cause spotting between periods, or increase menstrual flow. After menopause, any vaginal bleeding needs medical assessment. Polyps can also be found during an investigation for difficulty becoming pregnant, even when bleeding seems normal.

These symptoms are not specific to polyps. Fibroids, hormonal changes, infection, medicines, and other womb or cervical conditions can produce similar bleeding, so the pattern does not confirm the cause.

Record when bleeding occurs, how long it lasts, and whether it follows sex or happens after menopause.
