What Are the Alternatives to Plasma Pen Treatment?

A plasma device creates a controlled surface injury intended to tighten or reshape selected skin. It does not remove a fold of excess skin or reposition deeper tissue. For mild concerns, a clinician may discuss whether treatment is needed at all, along with gentle skin care and protection from sun exposure. When droopy eyelids result from dermatochalasis, the degree of overhanging skin and its effect on vision matter more than the device used.

Eyelid surgery, also called blepharoplasty, works by removing or reshaping excess eyelid tissue through an operation. It has a different recovery pattern and a different risk profile from a surface procedure, so it should be considered after an examination rather than chosen from photographs alone.

Ask for an assessment of the upper and lower eyelids, brow position, skin quality, and visual field. Share dry-eye symptoms, previous eye procedures, medicines, and any history of abnormal scarring. If the concern is mainly a change in skin texture, conservative care may be reasonable; if a fold rests on the lashes or interferes with sight, surgical assessment may be more relevant. Avoid treating close to the eye with an unverified device.

Seek urgent medical advice for sudden eyelid drooping, new double vision, severe eye pain, marked swelling, a change in vision, or difficulty closing the eye. After any cosmetic procedure, increasing redness, discharge, blistering, or worsening pain needs prompt review because the eye surface can be vulnerable.
