What are the alternatives to IUI?

Ovulation induction may be considered when ovulation is irregular or absent and the fallopian tubes and sperm findings are suitable for trying to conceive without insemination. It is different from IUI because prepared sperm are not placed inside the uterus.

IVF involves fertilising an egg with sperm in a laboratory and placing an embryo in the uterus. It may be discussed when tubal disease, sperm-related infertility, age-related fertility changes, or previous treatment make IUI less suitable. A tubal dye test can help assess whether the tubes are open before choosing a route.

The right choice depends on the findings behind female infertility, male factor infertility, or unexplained infertility, as well as previous treatment and personal preferences.
