A weight loss stomach injection is a prescription medicine injected under the skin that can reduce appetite and slow stomach emptying, but it needs medical assessment and follow-up. Medicines such as semaglutide or tirzepatide act on appetite and digestion signals; they are not injected into the stomach itself.

These medicines may be considered for people living with obesity, and some are also prescribed for type 2 diabetes. Suitability depends on your health history, current medicines, eating pattern, and treatment goals. A clinician may review blood pressure, blood tests, digestive symptoms, and any history of pancreatitis or gallbladder problems before prescribing.

Nausea, feeling full sooner, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, or abdominal discomfort can occur, especially while the dose is being adjusted. Appetite changes can affect fluid and food intake, so gradual dose changes and regular review matter. This treatment works alongside a structured weight management programme; stopping or changing it without advice may allow appetite or weight to change again.
