What should you know about a veterinary digital otoscope?

An otoscope has a light and viewing tip; a digital model adds an image sensor and screen. The clinician may inspect the outer canal for swelling, discharge, wax, foreign material or changes near the eardrum. Images can make it easier to explain findings and compare a later examination, but the view can be limited by pain, movement, narrow anatomy or debris. Tell the clinician when symptoms began and whether there has been pain, itching, discharge, reduced hearing, fever or recent swimming.
