What should you know about very cloudy urine male?

Dehydration can concentrate urine and make it appear darker or cloudy, particularly after sleep, exercise or heat. Minerals and mucus may also alter clarity. Urinary Tract Infection can cause burning, urgency, frequent urination, lower abdominal discomfort or a strong smell. Cloudiness may mix with discharge from the penis, which can occur with inflammation or a sexually transmitted infection. Kidney Infection is more concerning when fever, chills, nausea or back and side pain are present. Appearance alone cannot identify the cause.

Drink fluids regularly if you have no fluid restriction, and observe whether the change settles. Record urinary symptoms, discharge, pain, fever and when the cloudiness occurs. A clinician may request urine testing and, when discharge is present, additional tests.

Arrange prompt care for cloudy urine with fever, chills, back or side pain, vomiting, visible blood, difficulty passing urine, testicular pain or penile discharge. Seek emergency help for severe pain, confusion, fainting or inability to urinate.
