What should you know about urine that is always cloudy?

Persistent cloudiness can result from concentrated urine, crystals, discharge, inflammation, or infection. A urinary tract infection may cause burning, urgency, frequent urination, or an unusual smell. A kidney infection more often brings fever, chills, nausea, or pain in the back or side. Dehydration can contribute to concentrated urine, but drinking more does not explain every persistent change. A urine test is more useful than appearance alone.

Arrange a clinical review and ask how to collect a clean midstream sample. Keep drinking fluids according to your usual medical advice, but do not force large amounts to clear the urine. Note when cloudiness appears, any pain or fever, changes in frequency, and medicines or supplements you take. Avoid taking antibiotics left from an earlier illness, because the right treatment depends on the cause and testing.

Seek prompt care for fever, chills, vomiting, pain in the side or back, visible blood, or feeling significantly unwell. Inability to pass urine needs urgent assessment. If cloudiness is the only symptom but continues across samples, arrange an appointment so infection, kidney problems, and other explanations can be considered.
